Together with explanation of required characteristics of materials used for jet engines and its tendency, the author described about strengthening mechanism, various strength characteristics and characteristics of processing and fabrication of practical heat-resisting alloys, classifying them into iron base, nickel base and cobalt base alloy.Iron base alloys are low in price and have excellent workability, but their rupture strength is poor.The author also stated about basic conception of utilizing of intermetalic compounds, precipitation of carbides and solid solution strengthening in order to improve the rupture strength showing practical examples. As for nickel base super alloys the author outlined significance of progress of manufacturing method including vacuum melting and precision casting, strengthening method, uses and features of typical alloys.In relation to the utility of various precipitates the author also mentioned about a conception and an example of calculation of electron vacancies.As to cobalt base super alloys the author compared excellency of each characteristics with those of nickel base heat-resisting alloys and explained about the new alloys including MAR-M alloys showing some practical applications.The author described about dispersion hardening alloys and also pack cementation technique with aluminum for surface protection.
