The waste liquor of calcium bisulfite method from digestor was analysed and its fundamental purifying methods were examined. The results are summeri zed as follows :1. It contained in 100cc:tanning substance 5 gtotal solid 12total ash 1.2free SO2 1.2CaO 0.67Fe2 O3 0.01-0.12. It was made clear that after passing the free SO2 removing tower, original free SO2 content of waste liquor reduced to one quarter and oreoverdecreased to one twelfth by open evaporating to 55.3% solids without any loss of tanning substance.3. By addition of equivalent H2SO4 to lime in waste liquor, the original lime and total ash content decreased by 58% and 33% each and consequently tanning substance increased by 56% of original content.4. The removal of iron witn Na2CO3 was grea-test at pH 9 but only one half of iron content was removed. The equivalent Na2CO3 to lime in wasteliquor was not enough for qualititative removal of lime and for perfect deliming it was needed twice quantity of equivalent weight at pH 11.0. In this case organic matter the more precipitated together with CaCO3, the more pH value was near to 7.5. It was proved that using the chromed hide powder, adsorbable constituents in waste liquor at the tannage were CaO, MgO, Fe2O3, free SO2 and sulfonic SO2 but the absorption of lime was not so much as iron in comparison,
