Generally it may be assumed that the movements of small intestine of the sheep consist of three fundamental types, pendular movement, segmentation and peristalsis, just as described by some reseachers through the abdominal window method in other animals. It looks fairly characteristic that the movements some periodicity in certain order of types as follows.duration that segmentations and pendular movements had been developing was followed by a stage of peristalsis with highly tonic rising which might be preceded occasionally by a stage of abnormal type I of segmentation. (Fig 4) Then the movements came to a stands-till pause.Such cyclic changes of intestinal motility as above mentioned occurred repeately. From observasions made on coecum it is shown that there developed not only peristalsis and antiperistalsis, but segmentations and pudular movements like those in small intestine. Any of the antiperistalsis was not so powerfull as the peristalsis which did not generally develop in pair with antiperistalsis.
