On November 11, 1997, cargo boat "Chuhai" of China nationality of a ship and cargo boat "Asian Hibiscus" of Panama nationality of a ship collided on Kanmon Passage. As a result "Chuhai" was submerged. A cause of collislon of "Chuhai" and "Asian Hibiscus", "Asian Hibiscus" which traffic route of Kanmon Passage was navigated, and was gone to east,after passing the lower part of a Kanmonbridge, "Chuhai" which did short cut of a passage, and went to west. lt was a big cause that collided in "Asian Hibiscus". When a ship going on a voyage east navigates in Kanmon Passage,it is bent neighborhood of a route like collision case of this time, it was that dangerous problems related to were pointed out from the past. So in ship "Oshima Maru" which our college practices (226 gross tonnage, full length 41.5m), actually navigate a bent route of Kanmon Passage, we observe a ship going on a voyage looked at from "Oshima Maru" in way, in particular put it when go on a voyage east, we tried that we made problems about danger of collision that could be put when the inside of a route was navigated clear. As a result, a ship going east goes around Oseto, after passing No. 22 ligth bouy of Kanmon Passage to starboard, we were able to realize that what we pointed the bow to a direction of the starboard bow Kanmon bridge opened forward from the west neighborhood of Ganryu-Sima, and turned a course to 030°was comfortable most psychologically.
