• The torque rich is one of the fundamental information required for the improvement of reliability and for the management of economic operation of vessels. This paper describes the torque rich coefficient proposed for index of torque rich and the results obtained by analyzing the marine propulsion power and others measured on Zig-Zag-manoeuvre Test in the diesel ship,T.S.OSHIMAMARU. By the zig-zag-manoeuvre Test under the calm weather condition, we could detect the increase of the torque rich coefficients 2.7% due to the non‐steady change of propulsive performance within the accuracy of 0.1%.
