The purpose of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of organizational commitment in a major Japanese multinational company by identifying the value components of organizational commitment among the employees of that company in Japan. Organizational commitment is defined in the literature as follows: Organizational commitment is a psychological relationship between the employees and his/her organization, which would provoke the employees to get attached to the organization so that they would not leave voluntarily (Meyer & Allen,1984: 17).Similarly Mowday, Porter, and Steers (1982: 27) defined it as:"A strong belief in and acceptance of the organization's goals and values; a willingness to exert considerable effort on behalf of the organization; a strong desire to maintain membership in the organization."Thus, commitment comes into being when a person links extraneous interests with a consistent line of activity.
