We have taken several measurements of human bodies in order to obtain basic data for determining garment sizes. In 1966 we measured 900 boys and girls(6,15 of age) of the elementary schools and junior high schools in Hiroshima city. The data were examined and the results were reported in our previous paper. Our present report is about the results of measurement taken with 700 senior high school and college students and grown-up men and women (15,29 of age) living in Hiroshima city. The measurements were taken between April and July,1967. The numbers of the people measured are as follows; 300 boy and girl students of Hiroshima Funairi Senior High School: 300 male and female students of Hiroshima University and Hiroshima Jogakuin College: 100 young men and women (22,29 of age) working for Toyo Kogyo Co. L.t.d. The data were collected and arranged. Then the sizes and the development of part of bodies were examined and compared with the results obtained in the other seventeen districts of Japan and which were reported by Japanese Standard Society in 1968. The following is a brief summary of the results obtained.(1) No item shows a remarkable development between one age and succeeding age. This can be said of both boys and girls from 15 to 29 years of age. (2) No item shows a remakable difference of standard deviation that might be seen with the difference of age. (3) The mean values in 22,29 years of age are slightly smaller than those in 15, 21 years of age. This is probably because the young men and women born between 1938 and 1945 and brought up in the confusion during and after the War were affected by considerable changes of life environment.(4) A comparison between boys or men and girls or women reveals that the former is superior to the latter in every item except the circumference of hip and upper arms, and the length from the front-waist-line down between the thighs up to the backwaist-line. (5) The proportion between height and the other items,or between the circumference of chest and that of the other parts has little to do with the difference of age or sex. (6) There exists a close correlation beween height and the other items of length or between weight or the circumference of chest, and the circumference of waist and hip,but the correlation between height and circumferences are relatively small. (7) No remarkable difference can be seen between the mean values obtained from measurement in Hiroshima and those in the other districts. Yet our data tell us that the 16,17 and 18 year old boys in Hiroshima are inferior in height,in the breadth of shoulders and weight, while the girls of all age; between 15 and 29 are also inferior in the circumference of chest, waist and hip.
