1. The food habits of four fishes, Acanthogobius flavimanus, Therapon jarbua, Tribolodon hakuensis and Oryzias latipes, in marsh Hinuma near Mito City were examined. 2. The Crustacea Neomysis intermedia, which is abundantly found in this marsh, is the main food for fishes Acanthogobius flavimanus, Therapon jarbua and Tribolodon hakuensis. The Nereidae and Copepoda are the next important food for those fishes. 3. Oryzias latipes is a small fish and always swimming in the superficial region of water. It eats mainly the Copepoda and partly the Myscidae of small body. 4. In conclusion, generally speaking, the Crustacea Neomysis intermedia is the most important fooding animals for fishes in marsh Hinuma.
