In the past, delayed feedback was investigated independently in various fields of its application, but all of these investigations stand on a common basis. From this point of view the author made an effort to establish a unified basic theory system of delayed feedback. In addition he tried the basic studies of delayed feedback in the loud-speaking device system which had been disregarded until then. Not only the effect of delayed feedback in such a system was investigated, but the above-mentioned theory was ascertained by means of experiments. The summary of each part is as follows : Introduction Firstly, delayed feedback is defined, and the significance of delayed feedback in various fields, such as technology, natural and social science is described. Then three characteristics of delayed feedback are indicated in connection with their application, and the history of the theory and application of delayed feedback is surveyed in these three directions.
