Four skilled members (instructors) of the SHORINJI KEMPO belonging to DOHIN were used as subjects to measure their heart rate (HR) during various specified movements, HR during two hours of practice, maximal oxygen uptake (Vo2 max) and ventilatory threshold (VT). The exercise intensity during the various specified movements was estimated by the regression equation from the HR-Vo2 relation of the subjects involved. Furthermore, in a two-hour practice duration, the point where the VT is exceeded was measured. The following are the results : 1) It became clear that Exercise Intensity in GOHOU of SHORINJI KEMPO, regardless of skill levels, was strongest in JOCHU-NIRENTSUKI, and then KERI, TSUKI and UWA-UKE in the order of intensity 2) It was estimated that in order to perform KUMIENBU and RANDORI it is necessary to be able to keep high-power and middle-power. 3) It was estimated that Exercise Intensity of TSUKI and KERI has a certain tendency as the level of technique improves. Furthermore, it was suggested that it is efficient to first enhance basic techniques such as TSUKI and KERI and then the moving technique. 4) It was suggested that it is difficult to improve aerobic capacity by SHORINJI KEMPO Exercise.
