Stationary structure of ion sheath around a negatively biased grid inserted in a homogeneous plasma and the characteristic of propergation of ion-acoustic waves in its neighborhood are studied with the theory of collisionless plasmas. The reductive perturbation method applies to obtain the reflective coefficient of ion-acoustic waves from the grid. The results are shown to be in good agreement with the experiments by Nishida and Nagasawa.
