The effects of passive boundary-layer control on pseudo-shock waves in a rectangular duct at freestream Mach number of 1.89 have been experimentally investigated by a schlieren optical method and by pressure measurements. The pseudo-shock is affected substantially, by the passive boundary-layer control, and a flow pattern like, so called, a shockless state, which is suggested as a limiting state of the dissipative phenomenon for pseudo-shocks by L. Crocco, has been observed. Some characteristics such as the pressure distributions and shock angles of pseudo-shocks under the passive boundary-layer control are shown and discussed.
