The microstructure in a CuPt alloy was observed using a field ion microscope in order to describe the state of order. It was found that in a quenched CuPt alloy small ordered domains with a low degree of order are dispersed in a disordered matrix. The diameter of the domains was estimated to be around 1~2 nm. Upon aging, the domains increase diameter and then the degree of order within the domains starts increasing by a large extent to reach the equilibrium value.
