Numerical analysis was performed on circular free jets through finite difference scheme and k-ε turbulence model. In describing the governing partial differential equations, Landau transformation was applied so that the nodal points were appropriately distributed within the significant part of the field. It was found that the combination of the constants of the k-ε turbulent model for this geometry proposed so far by Launder was applicable only for the fully developed region of the jet and insufficient especially for the near exit part of the flow field. Accordingly, the combination of the model constants was adjusted so as to reproduce the existing experimental results of both radial and streamwise profiles of the dependent variables. Final results of the optimization are able to predict the whole How field including time mean and fluctuating properties of the flow except the radial profile of the turbulent dissipation rate.
