When an oblique shock wave occurs in steady flows of a supersonic wind tunnel or a supersonic diffuser, or when a planar moving shock wave encounters a sharp compressive corner in a shock tube, it is reflected from an inclined surface of a wall. The resulting wave system depends on the incident shock Mach number, the incident angle and the thermodynamic properties of gas, and two principal types of wave systems are well known. They are regular reflection and Mach reflection. These reflections have been investigated theoretically and experimentally by many researchers. Unfortunately, however, most of these investigations were done on diatomic gases such as air, oxygen and nitrogen. In the present paper, the reflected angle and the strength of a reflected shock wave from an inclined wall is calculated numerically for air, carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbon (Freon 12, CF_2Cl_2), and the effect of thermodynamic properties of gas on the configuration of a reflected shock is discussed.
