This article focuses on the re-examination of describing community as a research object from our fieldwork of Kominkan in Iida City, Nagano. / Chapter Ⅰ deals with the theme how community has been objectified in social scientific research in Postwar Japan. Through the examination, it suggests the importance of focusing on community neither as undeveloped region, nor as utopia, and of focusing on the unorganized daily life, which seems to have been missed in lifelong learning. / Chapter Ⅱ captures the character of Kominkan as the place for collection of residents'memories. The memories are diverse and each of them is special as itself. Because of their characteristics, Kominkan has possibilities of constructing identity of its community. / Chapter Ⅲ focuses on residents'multilayered daily life in community. They can move between the layers freely, and the movement produces invisible dynamics. In addition, the movement produces multi-dimensional structure of the community and the unique culture of the community by networking each of the layers. / The question here is not a technological methodology of educational research, but our perspective, which a priori determines and limits our methodology. / Our interest is on a framework of lifelong learning. The researchers themselves are not just observers but are also inside the issues. We need to capture the life of ourselves in community as an interdependent actor through lifelong learning.
