Paper was the necessary in the life of the Manchurian inhabitants though it was not the principal article imported through Dalian Port. This study is a research on analysis of the change in quantity and variety of Paper imported through Dalian Port (1907-31) to show the change of paper need in Manchuria and to reveal the commercial network between Dalian Port and its hinterland based on statistics of Chinese Maritime Customs and the South Manchuria Railway Company. Firstly, the total value of Paper imported through Dalian port was superior over Newchwang Port (Yingkou port) from 1924. But Newchwang port remained superiority in Chinese Paper import and Dalian port was the main route of foreign Paper import. Secondly, the value of imported Chinese Paper and foreign Paper increased every year, but the foreign Paper increased more and it exceeded Chinese Paper from 1926 according the total value in three ports of South Manchuria (Dalian port, Newchwang Port and Andong port). The consumption of Chinese Paper (eg. Joss or Lohai) and foreign Paper (eg. printing paper) showed the social change in Manchuria. The consumptions of Paper of cities along the South Manchurian railway were different because of cultural/economic/inhabitant member difference. Finally, the commercial network in Paper between Dalian port and its hinterland was stronger than that in Cotton Piece Goods. Its hinterland not only included Yingkou, Fengtian(Shenyang), but also Harbin which belonged to the hinterland of Vladivostok port.
