A female cuttlefish, Sepia (Metasepia) tullbergi, kept in a table aquarium laid an egg mass in June, 1976, at the Fisheries Experimental Station of Nagasaki University, Nomozaki, near Nagasaki. The eggs were laid individualy in one group on Müller's gauze with wire frame which was placed previously in the aquarium. Each egg was cased within a capsule. A capsule was subspherical, about 12 mm in length, about 10 mm in width, translucent milk white in color. One side of the capsule forms a short stock with a flattend end, and with which the capsule attached to the gauze. The other side of a capsule was not pointed, unlike as those of Sepia officinalis and other sepiids. The egg was ellipsoid as a hen's egg, about 4.8 mm in length, about 3.5 mm in width, and light yellow in color. In all the eggs, embryonic development failed to occur, so they seemed unfertilized.
