平成16年度~平成17年度科学研究費補助金(基盤研究B、課題番号16300234)「未利用天然資源の有効活用による地球環境に優しいアパレル加工製品の開発」[Synopsis] In this study, fabrication of chitosan/PVA blend films was fabricated, and biodegradation characteristics by outdoor test were examined. The degradation rate was faster for the blends with higher chitosan content and the weight loss in paddy soil is more significant than that in the red clay. Especially, the weight loss of undrawn chitosan (100/0) films is more pronounced. The remarkable difference appeared to this tendency due to the ration of chitosan and PVA and treatment (soil type and burying period, draw ratio) of samples. The spongy hole of various sizes had opened 3.5 — 4.4 times by the SEM observation of the films buried in the paddy soil compared with the red clay. This suggests that the biodegradation rate is high with increasing the content of chitosan. Obviously, the biodegradation rate has become duller by stretching the sample with high draw ratio. This tendency in the paddy soil was more remarkable than that in the red clay at the early stage of the soil burying.
