In philosophical education, it is important to make children reflect on “truth.” The purpose of this paper is to explore the possibilities of philosophical education on the theme of truth. For this purpose, we first examine the interpretation of Plato's “Allegory of the Cave” by Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), in which he proposes a unique concept of truth “unhiddenness.” Next, we introduce an experimental class that Sato, one of authors, offered at a junior high school, using “Allegory of the Cave” as teaching material. Finally, we discuss the various problems of how to apply profound philosophical doctrines to practical classes for high school students.
