The success of fast food chains is used by Ritzer as a metaphor for some general trends characterizing, not only contemporary American society but also contemporary global society. “McDonalization of Society” determined by Ritzer, is a society “characterized by rationality” is one which emphasizes efficiency, predictability, calculability, substitution of non-human for human technology, and control over uncertainly. Observing the everyday activities of managers, Mintzberg describes the work of managers is fragmented, and behaviors of managers tend to do quickly, and frequently. Conducting the participant observation and semi-structured interviews with managers, this paper will focus on the nature of managerial work on fast food which is any food that is quick, convenience, and usually inexpensive.
