概要

The manpower market, having to cope with fierce global competition is triggering a new competition of personality. The idea of a personality is being employed in the manpower market as referring to the personality of a labor-power commodity. Therefore, the value of one’s manpower is determined from the point of view of the difference in excellence in comparison with other people’s working capacity. Great changes have taken place in the quality of a worker’s ability that is needed for capital in the global competition, and there is indication that it is changing form a system of meritocracy to one of hyper-meritocracy (Honda Yuki). The ability to form personal relations and one’s emotional power are both looked for, and the conditions for evaluating character it-self in terms of how it conforms to standards as a labor-power commodity are emerging. Therefore, the conditions are also created in which a worker competes in the formation of excellent personality characteristics. When these phenomena are grasped on the whole, four general ideas regarding personality (individuality, character) are discernible, and become socially accepted. Those four are as follows:A)The difference in one’s scholastic abilityB)The difference in one’s characterC)The difference in both one’s scholastic ability and one’s own characterD)The characteristic value one has that belongs to one’s individual existence. (the author’s idea)Any examination of issues regarding personality must be performed based on a consideration of these four notions of personality.
