This paper aims for making it clear what did Terayama Shūji(1935-1983) mean by his concept: Mutual creation between performers and an audience on his commercial theatre, “Bluebeard's castle” (1979). He regarded the audience as an indispensable partaker. He set devices to draw an audience into his drama. These were absent of the center, interruption, blending illusion with reality and disorientation. They, he expected, would excite imagination of an audience. These devices got an audience perplexed and confused. After all, they give up to hold imagination because they could not follow the development of the story in a consistent way anymore. In that case, their imagination could not help orienting to the daily life outside the theater. The playwright argued and persuaded an audience that the drama is not in theater but in everyday life. In this sense we could say he succeeded in his experimental attempt to involve the audience in his drama under the condition of commercial theatre.
