The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of Kobujyutsu (a type of Japanesetraditional martial arts) practice for 5th grade (11-year-old) elementary school children.Twelve boys were selected as subjects. Firstly, their 30m running, vertical jump, and ballthrow motion were captured with three high-speed VTR cameras. Then, subjects performedKobujyutsu practice classes over a period of three weeks (four Kobujyutsu practice classes). After the last practice, their motions were captured again, and compared using the threedimensional kinematic analysis technique. After the practice classes, eight of the twelvesubjects improved their 30m running time and improved the height of c.g. at vertical jump, and all subjects improved the velocity of the ball at ball throw. From these results, it issuggested that Kobujyutsu practice class for three weeks (4 times) would improve theperformance of running, vertical jump, and throwing regarding 5th grade elementary school children.
