The current paper proposes a pedagogical application of a drama workshop method and an authentic literary work into college English classes. Taking learners' language proficiencies and topic familiarities into account, I would propose co-operative learning style and modified version of the original 'Interactive Theatre.' I choose a contemporary Japanese play, The Attic for the following reasons: (1) the play deals with a contemporary social problem, which students can tackle as an issue of our society, (2) its English translation is written in plain English and (3) its original structure allows taking excerpts with minimum context damage. The intended classes are elective courses of English communication at college level, because of the innovative approach and the controversial topic.
