Laser isotope separation of Zr and Gd was studied. Separation experiment was performed on Zr by the method based on polarization selection rules. We obtained the concentration of 91Zr about eight times higher than its natural abundance by three color excitation via a J = 2→2→1→o steps. Effect of a magnetic field on isotopic selectivity was also investigated by numerical calculations. It was found that for a high selectivity the magnetic field should be much less than 2.0 x 10 -4 T for gadolinium and 4.0 x 10-4T for zirconium.
