This paper examines the design of Web-based materials for specific tasks that enhance a communicative language-learning classroom. The paper begins with a brief explanation of the background and importance of task-based design in computer-assisted language learning (CALL). It then gives a description of an interactive Web site that utilizes an online classroom database to learn vocabulary in a collaborative learning project. The next portion of the paper briefly describes the design of other practical and imaginative CALL materials that use the database for such things as audio-visual exercises, gathering survey data, shared writing assignments and record keeping. Finally, there is a discussion on future projects and the best use of CALL in the classroom.　コミュニケーションのための言語習得の向上を目的とし、インターネットを用いた効果的な課題の設定に主眼を置いている。 CALLを活用した課題の背景と重要性、協同の学習課題を通じて語彙習得をめざす過程で、効果的な対話方式のウェブサイトについても言及している。また、視聴覚の練習問題・調査資料の収集・作文課題の分担・記録の保存などに活用できるデータベースを使った、実用的かつ想像力に富む教材の解説を行っている。最後にこれからの活動計画とCALLの最良の活用法についての考察を記す。
