In this study, a high-capacity electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) was targeted, and an influence on capacitance of EDLC by a surface functional group of Ketjenblack as a conducting material of polarized electrode was examined. Existence of an oxygen functional group on a surface of a carbon electrode in EDLC is related to a capacitance increasing with faraday reaction and improvement of wettability of a water solution electrolyte to an electrode. Also, EDLC was evaluated with different types of Ketjenblack changing with quantity of a surface functional group. A surface functional group of Ketjenblack was led to increase faraday reaction and wettability of a water solution electrolyte to an electrode, and the capacitance was increased. In addition, ions in electrolyte were adsorbed at the deep of a pore by the removal of a surface functional group, and capacitance was increased. The effectiveness of functional group of conducting materials of EDLC in a sulfuric acid as aqueous solution was clarified by this paper.
