A three-dimensional (3D, perspective view) computer graphics program has been made for a personal computer. A very simple formula has been derived for calculating the two-dimensional cordinates (Xp, Yp) of a projected piont on an assumed picture plane, from the three-dimensional coordinates(x, y, z) of a point on an object and those of a view point, and the direction cosines of the picture plave. The required floating point operations for obtaining a set of Xp and Yp are only 17operations. Therefor, a real time3D animation program has run on a personal computer (NEC PC9801FA). Some application to undergraduate education has been made so as to demonstrate the generality and usefulness of the graphic program.
