Characteristics of telephone counseling and mental burdens of the non-specialist telephone volunteer were reviewed. The characteristic of using "non-specialist" in telephone counseling is important. However, demerits of using non-specialist are also present. In order to promote better mental health and mental care for non-specialist telephone counseling volunteers, trainings that promotion for bonding between the non-specialists seem to be important. Thus, the methods of how to utilize mutual support to strengthen bonding between the telephone counseling volunteers were suggested. This method is thought to promote better mental health and mental care for non-specialist telephone counseling volunteers, and to have good impact on the clients.
