[原著]びまん性汎細気管支炎の一症例

We report in this paper the first case with diffuse panbronchiolitis in Okinawa, which has become a matter of concern in the field of respiratory diseases for the past decade. A 36 year old male patient was admitted to our hospital for the purpose of receiving clinical examinations and treatment for his persisting cough and exertional shorteness of breath. A pathological study on the lung tissue obtained by means of open chest procedure showed marked infiltration of lymphcytes around walls of respiratory bronchioles with follicular formation in parts, the findings of which were characteristic to the histological picuture of diffuse panbronchiolitis. In parallel with clinical course, laboratory examinations on arterial blood gass revealed hypoxemia without hypercapnea with gradual widening of A-aD02. Little change has been observed, in spite of the treatment by long term administration of steroid along with antibiotics and bronchodilator.
