高知工科大学国際交流センターの活動～留学生受入れから学生の海外派遣･研修まで～

高知工科大学国際交流センター（IRC）は博士後期課程特待生制度の創設に伴い、同プログラムへの外国人留学生のリクルート・受入れを主たる業務として、2003年に開設された。当初は外国人留学生の受入れ全般にかかわる活動が中心であったが、徐々に日本人学生の海外派遣にも活動が広がってきている。昨年実現した初めての大型学生派遣事業、「KUTヨーロッパ研修2009」を中心に、IRCの活動について時系列的に紹介する。The International Relations Center (IRC) was established in 2003, when the Special Scholarship Program for Doctoral Students started at KUT. The aim of the program is to support advanced research conducted at KUT by accepting highly capable international students.At the beginning, IRC’s activities were concentrated on recruiting, selecting and providing maximum support to foreign students attending KUT.A few years later IRC expanded its activities to involve sending Japanese students abroad. In 2006, a study tour to Bangkok was conducted followed by a study tour to China in 2007. In 2009 a study tour to Europe was carried out under the initiative of President Sakuma.In this report a brief history and activities of the IRC will be introduced with special emphasis on‘ 2009 KUT Study Tour in Europe’, which was truly a challenge for the IRC.
