As to the similarities between Beowulf and the Watanabe-no Tsuna legend,York F.Powell was the first to suggest in 1901,followed by Dr.Hisamoto Shimazu, whose suggestion were accompanied by detailed demonstrations and arguments in 1929,though Dr.Shimazu has not been appropriately appreciated. In this paper, the writer intends, first,to appreciate Dr.Shimazu's academic research and second,to examin the similarities between the two stories again. Thus, the writer is to suggest one more similarity between the two stories, based on the Shimazu's research.Furthermore, based on the above demonstration,as well as taking the relation among the precious swords, the heroes destroying the monsters/ogres,and the sacredness of King/Mikado into consideration, the writer also suggests that, there can be found the phenomenon of the change or succession from an old god to a new god in the stories.
