　John Milton’s “Lycidas” is examined from the viewpoint of poetic diction in the “pastoral” genre. Careful and detailed analysis of the poem’s language reveals how cleverly Milton treats the conventional literary genre of pastoral with his personal and emotional expression through his skillful use of various parts of speech. A traditional poem of elegiac theme is evolved in to a divine pastoral.　ジョン・ミルトン作『リシダス』の詩語の扱いについての検証である。長い伝統をもつ牧歌、田園詩のジャンルの詩的技巧を品詞の観点から詳細に分析することにより、従来からの哀悼詩の題材をミルトンが巧妙かつ大胆に神聖な作品に変容させ、進化させていることを指摘した。
