On the basis of the muscular development of the bladder neck in human fetus, the muscular constitution of the bladder neck contructure was studied. As a result, in a child case of congenital bladder neck contracture the maldevelopment of the posterior circular muscle of the bladder neck was recognized. In adult cases, however, all muscle systems around the bladder neck were distinguishable with various degrees of degenerative change. Therefore it is speculated that the bladder neck contracture in adult is caused not by congenital maldevelopment of muscle systems but by acquired factors, e.g. inflammation.
