• 348 prostates of the patients who complained of urinary disturbance caused by outlet obstruction without neurogenic bladder, urethral stricture or prostatic cancer, were studied by means of transrectal ultrasonotomography. Most of them were diagnosed as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Only 3.7% of them were diagnosed as bladder neck contracture (BNG), because the prostates of such cases were shown ultrasonically as normal pattern in size and figure. It seemed that BNG which we had diagnosed by ordinary urological examination, contained many cases of small BPH proved by ultrasonic examination.
