We examined renal function of 21 patients on hemodialysis by measuring serum-β2-microglobulin level. In 21 cases, the value of BUN were 77.0±13.8 mg/100 ml, the value of serum creatinine 12.79 ±3.84, and the value of serum-β2-microglobulin 41.57±15.66 after hemodialysis. The relationship between the value of BUN and β2-microglobulin was not significant, but the relationship between the value of serum creatinine and serum-β2-microglobulin was significant. The value of serum-β2-microglobulin tends to increase along with prolongation of the period on hemodialysis. In the long term hemodialysis, the value of serum-,82-microglobulin is one of the most important clinical markers.
