[調査報告]沖縄県の悪性腫瘍 : 病理検査材料から眺めたその部位,性,年齢,階級別分布

Malignant tumors of 639 cases which diagnosed histologically among 8678 cases submitted for histological examination from four prefectural hospitals in Okinawa, NAHA, NANBU, MIYAKO, YAEYAMA, were studied statistically. The results of analysis of these cases are as follows; (1) The malignant tumor of highest incidence in Okinawa was gastric cancer. The second was uterine cancer. The third was colon cancer. (2) The malignant tumor of highest incidence in man was gastric cancer. The second was colon cancer. The third was lung cancer. (3) As to the incidence of malignant tumor in woman, the uterine cancer was the first, and the gastric cancer and the breast cancer are subsequent. (4) While the morbidities of gastric and uterine cancer were high, but the mortalities of those disease were not high. (5) In spite of the morbidity of lung and esophageal and liver cancers was low comparing with gastric and uterine cancer, but the mortalities were high. (6) The rusults suggested that the man over the third decade and woman over later half of second decade are desirable to be checked periodically for early detection of cancer. (7) Judging from the ratio of early gastric cancers/all gastric cancers, the level of medical services in YAEYAMA and MIYAKO districts is not inferior to that in the main island of Okinawa.
