The purpose of this study was to examine the psychophysiological response during a fingermovement, that performed "the string figures" and “the origami”. 8 healthy females were played two tasks; one was the string figure task and the other was the origami task. They learned the procedure of each task by heart, and repeated for three minutes. Electrocardiogram (ECG), respiration rate, the mood scale formeasuring psychological arousal level and hedonic tone, the self-assessment (skillfulness, concentration, enjoyment) were measured about each performance. Heart rate variability (HRV) was analyzed by the data of ECG. These data were compared before and after learning the procedure in 2 tasks. The results were as follows.(1) Heart rate and respiration rate were increased in both tasks.(2) In HRV data, LF/HF that is the index of sympathetic system showed decrease before learning the string figure task, and showed an increase before learning the origami task. HF/TL(total) that is the index of parasympathetic system showed an increase before learning the string figure task, and showed a decrease before learning the origami task and after learning the string figure task.(3) In the mood scale for measuring psychological arousal level and hedonic tone, the “low arousal and unpleasurable” score in before learning the string figure task showed an increase in comparison with after learning the string task. In self-assessment, the point of “concentration” after learning the string figure task was higher score than that after learning the origami task. These results suggested that learning of the procedures by heart is the one of the haracteristics of the string figures.
