The modulated point vortex model is used to study confinement of drift wave vortices. A vortexpair propagating in a diamagnetic direction is shown to be reflected by a localized oscillating field applied perpendicularly to the propagation direction, depending on its amplitude, frequency and spatial width. The reflection leads to a confinement of the vortex-pair when fields are applied on the both sides of the vortex-pair. A sinusoidal wave propagating in the diamagnetic direction drives a vortexpair to diffuse in the direction perpendicular to the diamagmetic direction, suggesting an enhancement of radial transport in a magnetically confined plasma.
