Spermatopoietic function has been evaluated by microscop i c examination of spermatozoid, development and number of sperma of the testicle, and measurements of body weight, body length, and size of the testicle of matured rats to whom drugs being suppo sed to possess some effects on the testicle were administered 10 times daily by subcutaneous injection. Marked stimulating effects on spermatopoietic function have been observed by administration of either serum, chorionic, or placental gonadotropin, particularly the latter. At the same time some effects on the interstice were also noted. Male sex hormone also stimulated spermatopoietic f unction, though the effects were less marked than that seen by gonadotropin and there were no effect on the interstice. Administration of female sex hormone and adrenocortical hormone resulted in marked spermatopoietic dysfunction. ACTH-Z acce l erated the function only slightly. Antithyroid substance moderately stimu l a ted the function. On the other hand, thyroid hormone depressed the function slightly. Administration of insulin and parotin affected the function slightly. The function was almost within normal range when insulin was administered and it was slightly disturbed when parotin was administered. Adrenalin and p ilocarpine depressed the function, while atropine moderately accelerated the function. Vitamine E also moderately accelerated the function . Chondroitin sulfate, Vitamine H, and ATP slightly ac c elerated the function . Alginine and pineal body did not affected the function . 5-oxy-anthranilic acid moderately disturbed the functio n . Nitromine excessively disturbed the spermatopoietic func t ion .
