During the time of Darwin, when biological evolution was accepted among scientists, natural history developed from a descriptive study of nature to scientific research tostudy the diversity, structure and history of nature. This development, however, caused natural history to be definitely reduced to its organizational units, zoology, botany, geology, mineralogy, etc, and later to further smaller units. In the 20th century, each smaller unit achieved great success under reductionism, but it became more independent and began to lose its relationship to other units of natural history. In the 21st century, environmental threats have become the most important issues for all humans. In this situation, the small units that developed as independent sciences are being reintegrated into natural history for systematic understanding of nature and to provide a real sense of the value of nature. Considering this drift of natural history, students have been researching evolutionary biology in our laboratory.
