Taegu (J. Taikyu) Commercial School, with the ethnic composition of its student body being one-half Japanese and one-half Korean, was founded in 1923 as a model of the coeducation of the Japanese and the Koreans in colonial Korea (naisen Kyogaku). By 1930, when its baseball team participated in the national middle school baseball tournament as the representative of colonial Korea, its reputation as the “ideal achiever of harmony between Japanese and Koreans (naisen yuwa) through its emphasis on baseball” was established in the educational sphere of colonial Korea. The goal of this article is to verify the reality of the “ideal achievement of naisen kyogaku” by tracing the history of Taegu Commercial School. The study concludes that the naisen kyogaku system of the school produced a certain degree of achievement, as demonstrated by the appearance of its ethnically mixed baseball team in the national tournament. Starting in April 1930, military drill was provided to its students by an army officer. This made the school the first naisen kyogaku middle school whose Korean students became the object of military drill, as a result of the recognition of the school’s achievement of naisen yuwa. Military drills had been provided in Japanese schools from April 1926.Nevertheless, Taegu Commercial School experienced a full-scale school strike due to conflicts between Japanese and Korean students. It also saw its students becoming the leaders of “Taeguktan,” an independent movement organization. The attempt of Japanese education bureaucrats to realize naisen ittai (oneness of Japan and colonial Korea) at Taegu Commercial School was a failure after all.はじめに Ⅰ 学校沿革 Ⅱ 教員の去就 Ⅲ 大邱商業学校の学校文化 おわりに
