The purpose of the present study was to develop a scale to measure the interpersonal stress coping style of junior high school students, and to examine the relationship between interpersonal stress coping and stress response. In study 1, factor analysis showed that the scale included four factors: “seeking support”, “shift of thought”, “avoidance”, “active coping”. The reliability was examined through Cronbach's α. The resulting coefficient was satisfactory, thus the scale's reliability was verified. The scale's validity was also verified in construct validity. The present results show that the scale is reliable and valid for measuring junior high school students'interpersonal stress coping style. Furthermore, the results of the study 2 suggest that the coping style of “seeking support” and “avoidance” has negative effect on stress responses
