Objective :To assess the color imaging effects on psychosomatic state using an image selection system. Methods :Color images of flowers and seascapes, each mainly comprising of 5 colors, were arranged into a set of 50 images on a personal computer and shown to 24 university students after watching movies for more than 1.5 hour. The students were assigned as study group members selected color images according to their individual preferences by using an image selection system, but without image selection system for control group menbers. To determine the effect of viewing the color images, mood adjective scores as determined by the Profile of Mood Scale (POMS) were measured as an emotional parameter, and the levels of salivary chromogranin A (CgA) and salivary immuno globulin A (sIgA) were measured as biochemical parameters. These data were analyzed statistically and a p value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results :After viewing the color images, mean POMS scores indicate no significant differences between study group and control group. The mean value of salivary CgA and sIgA indicate no significant differences between study group and control group after viewing the images. Conclusion :Because of inefficient stress assignment way to the subjects and also of inefficient way of an image selection system, we cannot elucidate the efficiency of our color image selection system. We have to change the study plan to have proper finding from our research.
