A study has been made of the electrolytic reduction of anthraquinone and the yields of the reduction products obtained under high pressure of hydrogen or nitrogen were compared with that obtained in an open vessel. It was found that the reduction product differed according to the pressure, and the pressure is one of the essential factors in the electrolytic condition. In the reduction of anthraquinone the close analogies exist between the electrolytic and chemical processes.
