The high frequency titration method was applied to the determination of free acid in the presence of hydrolyzable ions, such as ferric iron and aluminum. The titration was made with a standard base. By the use of sodium fluoride to mask the hydrolyzable ion and prevent its hydrolysis as the titration proceeds, fairly good end points were obtained with the high frequency titrimeter. The amounts of sodium fluoride required for the quantitative titration were found to be from three- to ten- fold of iron ( or aluminum). A simple titration method is described on the basis of the present investigation.
