This article addresses the author's first year teaching practice at Tsuyama National College of Technology and howthe initial difficulties experienced were solved. This process led to the practice of Wayaku-sakiwatashi instruction which aimed at increasing the amount of time for students to engage in a variety of tasks requiring them to intake comprehended input. The tasks which students attempted, including chunk reading, are discussed in detail along with student feedback through conducting a questionnaire.
