The stepping stone model with infinitely many alleles has been studied in the framework of Fleming-Viot processes by Handa [5], In this paper, it is investigated the strong-migration limit of the average number of distinct elements in a sample of finite articles in the stationary state of the model, where the results in [5] are applied. Tb obtain our result, we investigate a problem on positively recurrent Markov chains, and make use of the results in Shiga, Shimizu and Soshi [12].
