The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual circumstances of Art Education in schools as well as the problems and issues. This study is based on the results of the questionnaires the Yamagata Art Education Leagues gave to Art teachers and the Benesse Educational Research and Development Center gave to students.The consciousness of the art teacher and the actual circumstances of Art Education can be ascertained from the findings. First, an art teacher makes much of letting students taste the pleasure and expression of art. Second, the decrease in school hours has become a problem. The difference of consciousness of individual art teachers has been seen as an important issue. Asa result, it plays a major role in education and causes an educational imbalance. Upon reflection of these studies, I want to make recommendations to make Art Education better in the future.
